Part 1, 200 pages, Feb. 1943-Nov. 1945, a scattering of correspondence with various friends, several from/to Cal Laning, Jerry Voorhis, and Willy Ley. There are also letters and memoranda about the work in Philadelphia during World War II. There are a few letters from Ginny to “Leslyn and Bob”.
Part 2, 200 pages, Nov. 1945-May 1946, continued scattering of correspondence in the post-war years. There are a couple clippings about the strange jobs sf writers had in the war.
Part 3, 200 pages, May 1946-Feb. 1947, continued scattering of correspondence in the post-war years. The letter on page 8, by RAH speaks frankly and openly about Leslyn’s health, emotional, and drinking problems. The same letter talks somewhat about L. Ron Hubbard, as do several that pass between the Heinleins and the de Camps. There are also some letters and notes from Ginny to RAH calling him “Bob darling”. Section ends with congratulation notes, letters, and telegrams about the publication of “Green Hills of Earth”.
Part 4, 200 pages, Feb. 1947-Aug. 1947, Starts with congrats letters about “Green Hills”. Page 35 has a long letter by RAH talking about himself, science fiction and why he got into the sf field. Page 53 has a letter from RAH to Ginny with an added note by Leslyn, all quite friendly, the interesting thing is an added separate sheet at the end with the single typed line “I think about you all the time”. Pages 65, 66 have notes from Ginny to RAH describing her love. Page 129 is a letter from RAH to Ginny describing his new, post-Leslyn living arrangements. Following are many letters between them.
Part 5, 124 pages, Aug. 1947-May 1971. The last letters in this collection jump quickly up through the years, passing through 1948, the 50s, 60s, up to 1971 scantily. Most of the last letters are a correspondence with Herman Deutsch of New Orleans.
